I am buying a gift for the Holidays. Will the recipient be able to return it later than two weeks from my purchase?

Of course! All orders placed from Nov. 24th through Jan. 1st qualify for extended returns. The extension gives these orders until Jan. 15th to be returned, rather than our standard 14 days. To return an item, please contact Returns@billykirk.com

I'm interested in purchasing an item that's no longer on the site, could I still order it if you have one?

If an item is no longer on the site it usually means it's either discontinued or we've sold out of it. None the less we may have the item in our studio or store, so shoot us an email and we'll take a look for you!

Does Billykirk offer a warranty?

We completely stand by the quality of our products. If an issue comes up that's our fault or the manufacturer's we'll fix it free of charge and we'll cover the shipping. Just send an explanation of the issue, pictures, and your address to Info@billykirk.com and we'll send you a return shipping label.

 

Shipping

What is the average shipping time of an item?

The majority of our shipments go out by USPS Priority Mail which ranges from 1 to 3 day shipping depending on the area. We also offer expedited shipping options from either USPS or UPS. Check out our Shipping Page for more information!

For international shipping can you change the item's value to zero on the label so I don't have to pay at customs?

We cannot mark the item's value down to help you evade custom charges. We know that shipping internationally is ridiculously expensive at times but we definitely can't afford the fines or jail time that come with international mail fraud.

What is your shipping policy at Billykirk?

Billykirk ships Monday through Friday except on holidays. USPS picks up around 2pm EST so orders placed after 2pm will process next business day (if ordering after 2pm choose UPS as the shipping carrier as they pick up around 5pm EST.)

Most orders will be processed and shipped same day but please allow 1-2 business days for processing time (expect longer processing time for custom items and hand stitched items).

Will I be able to track the shipment of my order?

Once we capture payment for your order we’ll print a shipping label and the tracking number will be automatically assigned and emailed to you. If this tracking number hasn’t been emailed to you within 1-2 days after payment has been captured please email us at info@billykirk.com.

Please note that the tracking number will not be live on USPS or UPS’ website until the package has been scanned and received by the carrier's handler.

 

Bags

I'm interested in a custom bag design, is this an option?

Unfortunately our shop is not currently set up to take custom orders on bags.

Am I able to lock my Carryall?

We are unaware of any locks on the market that will work with the Carryalls as we don't currently have an official way of locking them. With this style bag it's going to be tricky to get a lock to work on it without modifications to the bag (which would definitely void any warranty or possible repair).

Will a 15" laptop fit in the 236 Schoolboy Satchel?

The 236 Schoolboy Satchels are not big enough to accommodate a 15" laptop, but laptops 13" and below will generally fit without a problem. For 15" laptops, we recommend our larger No. 486 Schoolboy Satchel.

I ordered a hand-sewn or custom style 2 days ago, why has it not shipped?

Many pieces in our line are hand-sewn to order right here in our Jersey City studio. When these orders are placed, it may take a day or two for them to be sewn and finished by the diligent sewers on our team. Upon their completion, you will be notified that your order is on its way! Should an issue comes up where an order may take longer than a day or two, we will contact you via email to keep you updated on the status of your order. Styles that require in-house assembly include but are not limited to: all custom orders, No. 095 Shoulder Satchel, No. 123 Shoulder Pouch, No. 125 Clutch, No. 211 Bike Frame Pouch, and No. 334 Bike Handle Bar Pouch.

Are your bags and Dopp kits water-resistant, specifically the waxed canvas?

Great question! Waxed canvas is water resistant as the waxing process infuses the canvas with a water repellant wax, similar to how it was used on English and Scottish sailboat sails during the 15th century. Waxed canvas does require some maintenance, though, to maintain its effectiveness against moisture. We recommend rewaxing your canvas goods at least once a year with our Canvas Refinishing Wax.

 

Leather

How can I clean my leather product without damaging it?

For leather cleaning we recommend a good leather conditioner such as Skidmore's. Very light applications using a lint-free cloth such as an old t-shirt works the best. Billykirk will not reimburse for damages done while cleaning or maintaining your product.

I heard that leather ages and changes over time, is this true?

This is definitely true! Over time and with extended use, the leather will change and take on characteristics of suede in the areas where the bag is most often handled. Also, keep in mind that some color transfer is normal due to the numerous hand rubbed coats of dye. Please use discretion when wearing lighter colored garments.

Can you tell me a little about the leather that you use at Billykirk?

We use many different manufacturers but all of our leathers are US Cow hides unless otherwise noted on the product page. For our colored leathers we usually use Latigo Leather and for our "Natural" leather we use Hot Stuffed Harness Sides which is a vegetable tanned leather. Some of our softer hides are sourced from Italy.

My new leather product has some markings that look like they may be scratches, is this normal?

While we quality control for any serious issues or shop wear on the leather, it's still normal for the skin to have a few natural markings. These include cuts and markings that the cow may have received during its life.
